For 15 years, Dr. Goda taught undergraduates at Stanford University to interpret and critically evaluate research findings, understand their policy implications, perform empirical analysis and communicate economic ideas clearly and effectively. Below is a sampling of the courses she taught.
This course investigates current research in the economics of aging. Topics include health care and the elderly, health insurance and the labor market, Social Security, pensions, saving for retirement, disability insurance and long-term care. This course fulfills the Writing in the Major and capstone requirement for the economics department.
This course is designed to equip students with tools to 1) critically evaluate evidence used to make policy decisions and 2) perform empirical analysis to answer questions in public policy. Specifically, by the end of the course students will be able to interpret regression coefficients, evaluate whether a regression estimate is biased, understand research methods commonly used in policy analysis, and use Stata to perform basic empirical analysis.
